30 Day Minimalism Game (Part 2)

Today I’d like to do a recap on the 30-day minimalism game.

I recently participated in a 30 day challenge where I removed a total of 465 items from my home. On the first day, you were to remove one item, on the second day, two items, and so on until you removed 30 items on the thirtieth day. I did a post on the first half from days 1-15 and since completing the challenge, I wanted to share a few of my takeaways.

DVDs

We had a box full of a lot of DVDs that we hadn’t watched in a very long time. It didn’t make sense to hold onto them especially since any movies or TV shows that we do watch these days are on Netflix.

Tapes & CDs

I had a box full of old cassette tapes that had a layer of dust on because they hadn’t been listened to since the 90’s. I also had a box full of CDs from junior high and high school. It was a lot of fun to take a trip down memory lane and think back to all the good memories I have from that time in my life. I realized most of those albums only had 1 or 2 songs that I really loved on them so it didn’t make sense to keep them since I could put those songs on my computer as an mp3 and still be able to enjoy them.

Listening to my old favourite tunes one last time was all I really needed before I was ready to pack them up and add them to the donate pile.

I would definitely recommend giving the 30 day minimalism game a try. It’s a fun way to ease your way into clearing the clutter in your home but also get rid of a lot in the process. Give it a try if you’re interested and I hope you have fun.
