“Change your thoughts and you change your world”
–Norman Vincent Peale
Let’s start the new year with a fresh set of internal beliefs and positive thoughts, shall we? Let’s kick negative self talk to the curb and start believing in our strengths and abilities.
Say goodbye to Limiting beliefs like…
- I’m not good enough
- I don’t have enough time
- I don’t have enough resources
- I’m too old
- I’m too young
- I don’t have enough experience
- Who wants to listen to me?
Whatever excuses have been taking up precious real estate in your mind, it’s time to replace them with a different kind of thought. One that evokes excitement, possibility and is inspiring to you.
Where have you been limiting yourself? Have you been living your life based on someone else’s expectations?
If you’ve spent too much time feeling stuck for no reason other than you haven’t been ready to soar, this is your year to break free and explore what you’ve been held back from creating. I believe we are all creatives in our own unique ways. Let’s embrace what lights us up and do more of whatever that may be this year.
You don’t need anyone’s permission but your own. Let this be the year of TAKING ACTION. If you’ve been thinking about starting or trying something new, I encourage you to take a step in that direction.
I know first hand that when you choose not to take action on ideas or possibilities you’re excited about, they eventually end up slowly fizzling away. And sadly, feelings of doubt and insecurity can start to surface.
Turn Limiting Beliefs Around
Chris and I recently went through Michael Hyatt’s program called 5 Days to your Best Year Ever in which you get clear what you want to accomplish through developing new habits and goals and the motivations behind each goal or habit. One element I really liked was identifying the limiting beliefs that I’ve been telling myself and turning those limiting beliefs into a liberating truth. It was a great way of identifying the kind of internal negative beliefs that needed some shifting in a positive direction.
For example, “I don’t have enough time.” (limiting belief) can be turned into “I have more than enough time. I just need to use the time I have wisely.” (liberating truth)
Or “My family members aren’t fully interested in decluttering or simplifying our home.” (limiting belief) can be changed to “I can set a positive example by decluttering and simplifying my things to show my family how great it feels to not be drowning in stuff.”
With the new year already in full swing, I encourage you to take a good, long look at what limiting beliefs have been holding you back and get ready to turn them around into your own liberating truths. Feel free to share which of those beliefs you plan on kicking to the curb this year. Remember, taking it one day at a time, with one step after the other will eventually get you to where you want to be.
Happy New Year!
Jillian
